plant sunlight

Sunlight Plant your Cardboard Palm in an area that receives full-partial sun (4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day).

plant watering

Watering Water your Palm 2-3 times per week for the first month, then once a week for the remainder of the first year after planting. Keep the soil moist but well-drained, watering more in times of drought and less when there is rainfall.

plant fertilizing

Fertilizing If necessary, use a palm-specific fertilizer for your Palm. Slow-release fertilizer is best to allow the smaller root system to uptake what it needs. Apply close to the base and start in spring/follow specific fertilizer instructions.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Whether you grow it indoors or out, it’s important to select the right location for your Cardboard Palm Tree. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, meaning 6 to 8 hours of sunlight a day, and well-drained soil. Once you’ve selected an adequate location, dig a hole that’s two or three times the width of your plant’s root ball – or select a container that’s twice the width of your shipped container. From there, place the plant, back fill the soil and water to settle the roots.

2. Watering: Water regularly, about once per week, to keep the soil moist but not oversaturated. If you’re not sure when to water, check the soil about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil here is dry, it’s time to water. We recommend reducing your watering schedule during the winter and fall to a bi-weekly watering.

3. Fertilizing: Fertilize your Cardboard Palm Tree with a slow-release fertilizer once a month during the growing season.

4. Pruning: Prune off dead leaves and foliage as they occur for best results.
