Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose a location with well-drained soil and some space for the tree to grow—ideally, it should be placed at least 25 feet away from buildings or other trees. Dig a hole that is two times as wide as the root ball but no deeper than the root ball itself. Gently place the tree in the hole, ensure the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface, and backfill with native soil.
2. Watering: Once planted, water the New Harmony American Elm deeply once a week for the first few months. After establishing, this tree is drought-tolerant, but during prolonged dry periods, a good soak every couple of weeks helps promote healthy growth.
