How to Grow Apricot Trees
Even better? Apricot Trees are super easy to plant and maintain, especially since we’ve planted, grown and shipped them with the utmost in care. Planting our Apricot Trees means you get healthful fruit without much maintenance.
When to Plant Apricot Trees and More
- When? Plant your Apricot Trees during the dormant season, before new growth begins in late winter or early spring.
- Where? Choose a location with full to partial sun and moist, well-draining soil, in a hole large enough to accommodate the tree’s root ball (typically at least twice the width of the root ball).
- How? Place your Apricot Tree in a hole big enough to accommodate entire root ball, loosen the soil as you place it, pack the soil back tightly and water. It’s that simple.
When to Prune Apricot Trees and More
Because we’ve grafted your tree so that it’s a proven performer, you can expect consistency and ease for the life of your Apricot Tree. As a result of our hard work and meticulous care, you’ll get the same great-tasting fruit for seasons to come.
How Do I Ensure My Apricot Tree Thrives?
It’s simple – we follow the four Ps: Planting, Pruning, Pollination, and Picking.
- Planting: After you’ve chosen a sunny space, place your Apricot Tree in a hole big enough to accommodate its entire root system, pack the soil tightly and water.
- Pruning: It’s best to prune your Apricot Tree in the late winter or early spring. Remove any damaged or broken branches, as well as any branches that are rubbing together.
- Pollination: Our Apricot Trees are self-fertile, though you will get a bigger crop by planting more than one.
- Picking: You’ll know your apricots are ready to harvest when the fruit has turned a golden-orange color and boasts a sweet, strong smell. It will be firm but have a bit of give when it’s squeezed gently.
