A stunning tree with elegant form and fragrant blossoms
The American Sentry™ Linden Tree showcases an excellent narrow, upright pyramidal habit that makes it a fantastic choice for tight spaces or urban gardens. With its silvery gray bark and lush dark green leaves, this tree adds an elegant and sophisticated visual appeal to any landscape. Its stunning creamy white flowers bloom in late June, filling the air with a delightful spicy fragrance that can transform your outdoor space into a sensory haven. As the seasons change, you’ll enjoy the lovely transition of the leaves to a vibrant yellow in fall, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Additionally, this hardy tree is resistant to Japanese beetles, making it a practical choice for gardeners conscious about pest management. Whether you’re looking to create shade, enhance curb appeal, or provide a scenic backdrop for gatherings, the American Sentry™ Linden Tree offers a blend of beauty and resilience that makes it a wonderful addition to your yard.
Planting & Care
1. Planting Choose a location that receives full sun to partial shade, with well-drained soil to promote healthy growth. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Place the tree in the center of the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is slightly above soil level. Backfill gently and water thoroughly to remove air pockets.
2. Watering Water the tree regularly, especially during the first few years as it establishes. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. After the initial establishment period, the American Sentry™ can tolerate moderate drought but will thrive with regular watering during dry spells.
3. Pruning Prune the tree in late winter or early spring while it’s still dormant. Remove dead or damaged branches and shape the tree to maintain its upright structure. Avoid excessive pruning, as this can impact the tree’s blooming potential and overall health.
4. Fertilizing Fertilize in early spring using a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to provide essential nutrients. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates. This helps to promote strong growth and vibrant foliage.
