Captivating blooms that brighten late spring

The Arnold Tuliptree is a stunning addition to any landscape, renowned for its spectacular late spring blooms and golden fall color. You’ll be enchanted by the large, cup-shaped flowers that sport a lovely chartreuse-yellow hue with an orange band at the base. These striking blooms not only capture attention but also attract pollinators, bringing life to your yard. As a narrower selection of its species, this tree fits perfectly in smaller gardens or as an elegant accent in larger landscapes, adding both vertical interest and brilliant color.

With its graceful silhouette and lush, glossy leaves, the Arnold Tuliptree offers year-round appeal. Its tall, straight trunk and dense foliage provide ample shade, making it an excellent choice for backyard retreats. Beyond its beauty, this tree is adapted to a variety of soil types and is relatively low-maintenance, providing an easy-to-grow option for gardeners of all levels.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stakes and ties prior to planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a location with well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Fill in around the root ball with soil and water thoroughly.

2. Watering: Water your Arnold Tuliptree regularly, especially during the first few years to establish a strong root system. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant but will thrive with consistent moisture. Tulip trees are shallow rooted and sensitive to heat, so mulching well can help conserve moisture and protect the roots.

3. Pruning: Prune in late winter to early spring to shape the tree and remove any dead or damaged branches. This will enhance airflow and help maintain its healthy growth. Avoid heavy pruning, as this tree naturally develops a pleasing form.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to support healthy growth and blooming. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the appropriate amount based on your tree's size.
