Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Select a location with well-drained soil that receives partial to full sunlight. Dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Place the shrub in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil surface. Fill in with soil and water thoroughly to eliminate any air pockets. Add a 3-inch settled layer of mulch extending 3 feet around the shrub to conserve water, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.
2. Watering: Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells. Ensure the soil remains evenly moist but not soggy. Established plants can tolerate some drought, but frequent watering will promote better growth and flowering.
3. Pruning: Late winter or early spring is the ideal time to remove dead or damaged stems and shape the shrub as desired. This promotes healthy growth and encourages beautiful blooms.
4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Always follow package instructions for proper dosage to ensure optimal growth and flowering.
