Hardy and Versatile Evergreen
Introducing Heritage™, part of the first collection of scientifically bred blight-resistant boxwoods! Enhance any space with the glossy, deep green foliage of this novel variant, which offers year-round color and interest. Similar to the Buxus sempervirens, Heritage™ has all the benefits of a classic boxwood but in a compact size.
With dense foliage and an upright habit, Heritage™ grows just three to four feet tall and two to three feet wide, so it will always fit perfectly into the landscape where it is planted. It’s the ideal boxwood to use in borders, create natural hedges, or plant in containers. Feeling creative? Heritage responds well when pruned into conical forms and shapes.
Resistant to pests and unappealing to deer, Heritage™ is a low-maintenance evergreen with big appeal. It prefers a location with full sun to partial shade, ideally receiving between 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily. Add this vibrant, refined boxwood to your collection today!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Find a location to plant your boxwood in loamy, well-draining soil where it will get between 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily.
Dig a hole three times the width of the root ball of your plant and deep enough that your plant will sit level with or slightly above the ground around it. Top the soil beneath your plant with 3-4 inches of mulch to help it retain moisture.
2. Watering: A consistent watering routine is best, ensuring the soil remains moist but not overly saturated. Do not allow the roots to get waterlogged.
3. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced shrub fertilizer formula such as 10-10-10 in spring, before new growth emerges for your Heritage.
4. Pruning: Boxwoods respond well to pruning. During the first two years of growth, prune your boxwood to your desired shape before new growth in spring. In the following years, the tips of the shrub will need to be pruned to maintain its shape.
