3. Pruning: Panicle hydrangeas bloom on new wood and can be pruned in fall or spring. In winter, stems may be pruned to keep plants tidy, or dried flower heads can be left in place for winter interest. Prune back about one-third of the overall shrub, or simply remove any dead wood as needed.

4. Fertilizing: Feed your hydrangea in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to promote robust growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive foliage at the expense of blooms.
