Roses with the charm of nature’s poetry
The Emily Brontë™ Rose is a delightful addition to any garden, boasting beautiful, soft pink blooms that carry a captivating fragrance reminiscent of classic English gardens. With its lush, bushy growth habit, this shrub rose creates a charming focal point in your landscape, whether planted as a standalone specimen or in a mixed border. The classic beauty of its blooms is matched by its disease resistance, making it an excellent choice for gardeners who value both aesthetics and ease of care.
This variety not only adds a splash of color but also has a strong, pleasant scent that can fill your outdoor space with delightful aromas. As a part of the English Shrub Rose family bred by David Austin, it inherits a combination of traditional rose charm with modern robustness. It's a plant that encourages you to slow down and take a moment to enjoy the beauty around you, reminding us of the timeless themes in Emily Brontë’s poetry.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose a location that receives at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily. Prepare the soil by loosening it and adding organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, to ensure drainage and nourishment. Dig a hole that’s twice as wide as the root ball of the rose, place the plant in the hole with the graft union at soil level, and backfill with soil.
2. Watering: Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells. Aim to water deeply at the base of the plant rather than from above to prevent fungal diseases. Mulching with organic materials can help retain moisture in the soil and regulate temperature.
3. Pruning: Early spring is the ideal time for pruning your Emily Brontë™ Rose. Remove any dead or damaged wood and trim back the previous year’s growth by about one-third to encourage new growth and maintain a well-structured bush. Pruning will enhance air circulation and promote flowering.
4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring and again in mid-summer with a balanced rose food. Look for a slow-release formula that provides necessary nutrients without over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive foliage at the expense of bloom production.
