Discover lovely rosy pink blooms with a creamy twist

The Garden Candy® Sweet Treat™ Itoh Peony Plant stands out for its semi-double, rosy pink petals that boast striking cream centers. This delightful peony offers a vibrant display in your garden, creating a beautiful focal point from late spring into summer. Its unique color blend enriches the palette of your landscape, inviting admiration from all who pass by. Beyond its stunning looks, this hardy perennial is known for its sturdy stems that won’t flop, making it an excellent choice for both garden beds and cut flower arrangements.

Planting the Sweet Treat™ Peony is an investment in joy, as its full blooms can last for weeks. Peonies are cherished for their ability to thrive with minimal maintenance while providing abundant blossoms year after year. With its compact growth habit, this plant fits perfectly into any garden space, whether you’re filling a sunny border or adding charm to a mixed landscape. Incorporate the Sweet Treat™ Peony into your garden to elevate the aesthetic appeal and create a welcoming atmosphere for outdoor gatherings.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil for your Sweet Treat™ Peony. Dig a hole about 1-2 feet wide and deep, mixing in compost to enrich the soil. Space plants about 2-3 feet apart to allow for their mature size. Plant at the same depth as they were in the pot, ensuring the eyes (buds) are just beneath the soil surface.

2. Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry spells. Establish a consistent watering routine, allowing the soil to dry slightly between watering sessions. Avoid overhead watering to help prevent fungal diseases; instead, water at the base of the plant.

3. Pruning: In late fall or early spring, cut back your peony to about 3-4 inches above the ground. Remove any dead foliage or spent blooms to encourage healthy growth. This practice also helps to keep the plant tidy and disease-free.

4. Fertilizing: A root supportive fertilizer like Espoma Biotone can be used at planting. In subsequent years, bulb fertilizers can be used after flowering or compost can be worked into soil to improve fertility and overall soil quality. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, as they can lead to lush foliage at the expense of flowers.
