Pretty Pink Blooms with Tough Cold-Hardy Durability
Holden’s™ Pink Hybrid Rhododendron is a standout spring bloomer that doesn’t compromise on toughness. Its buds emerge early and burst into candy-pink flowers by mid-May. These classic, rounded flowers bring a pop of color to garden borders, shaded beds, and spring displays.
Holden’s™ Pink has a dense, mounding form and deeply colored, leathery evergreen foliage that provides texture and structure through every season. Even when not in bloom, its evergreen foliage in the landscape lends rich, glossy green color to woodland gardens or foundation plantings.
This hybrid is one of the hardiest and most disease-resistant Rhododendrons available. Like others in the Holden’s™ series, it has been rigorously tested for resistance to Phytophthora cinnamomi (commonly called cinnamon fungus), making it an excellent choice for gardeners who’ve struggled with root rot in the past. Its compact habit makes it perfect for smaller spaces, patios, or even container gardening.
Best of all, Holden’s™ Pink Rhododendron is low-maintenance. Its early bud development ensures reliable blooms, and it's incredibly cold-hardy. Get this must-have Rhododendron variety today!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose a location with full shade (especially in hotter climates) and well-drained, acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill and water thoroughly. Add mulch around the base to retain moisture and insulate roots.
2. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during the first year. Avoid soggy conditions. Rhododendrons have shallow roots, so consistent watering in dry spells is important, particularly during bloom season.
3. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a slow-release, acid-loving plant fertilizer. Avoid overfeeding, which can damage roots and limit bloom production.
4. Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed. Remove spent blooms after flowering to encourage next year’s buds, and lightly shape the plant in late spring if desired.
