Engage with stunning color transformations all season long
The magical transformation of this shrub captures attention, showcasing a dazzling spectrum of colors throughout the growing season. Starting as bright pink, blue, or red, it intriguingly shifts to deeper reds, greens, and even chartreuse over an impressive 150 days of blooming. This delightful display is not just about looks; its sturdy stems ensure that the blooms stay upright and gorgeous even in the rain, making it a dependable choice for any garden.
In addition to its captivating flowers, this hydrangea adopts a compact growth habit, allowing it to fit snugly into various garden styles. Perfect for borders, containers, or as a stunning focal point, its long-lasting blooms are particularly appealing to pollinators, making your yard come alive with buzzing activity. Add this vibrant shrub to your landscape, and watch it not only brighten your outdoor space but also contribute to the ecosystem.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and place the shrub so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with a mix of native soil and compost, then water thoroughly after planting. Apply a 3-inch settled layer of mulch extending about 3 feet around the plant to conserve moisture and protect roots.
2. Watering: Maintain consistent moisture, especially during the first growing season to help establish roots. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Mulching around the base helps retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.
3. Pruning: This hydrangea blooms on old wood, so avoid pruning in fall, as this would remove next year’s flower buds. Dead or diseased wood may be removed at any time. Light pruning can be done immediately after flowering, if needed.
4. Fertilizing: In spring, as the plant begins to leaf out, apply a slow-release fertilizer such as Espoma® 5-10-5 to support healthy growth and vibrant blooms throughout the season.
