Planting & Care
Planting Instructions: Ideal for tight spaces, the Italian Cypress Tree isn’t finicky but does prefer full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily) and well-drained soil.
When it’s time to plant your Italian Cypress, start by digging a hole that’s at least twice the width of your tree’s root ball. After placing your tree in the hole, back fill the soil, and tamp down the soil to ensure air pockets are eliminated. Finally, water your Italian Cypress to help establish its roots.
Watering: Your new Italian Cypress Tree should be watered twice a week for the first month, once a week for the next two months and then every two weeks after the first three months. Though it’s drought tolerant, too much warmth and wind can dry it out, so keep an eye on the soil’s moisture. If you’re not sure when to water, check the surrounding soil about 2 to 3 inches down. If the soil is dry, it’s time to water your tree.
Pruning: The Italian Cypress Tree doesn’t need pruning, but for shaping purposes, you can prune the top of the tree if you want a fuller, bushier silhouette.
