Make a Big Impact in Your Shade Garden With Giant Leaves and Blue Blooms

The Proven Winners® Jack of Diamonds Brunnera is a Proven Winners Perennial of the Year® that dazzles with its massive 9-10" leaves, each brimming with intricate details. The leaves feature a stunning silver overlay accented by a dramatic network of dark green veins, creating a striking contrast that will draw the eye from all angles.

In early spring, the delicate, baby blue blossoms, resembling forget-me-nots, emerge in clusters, adding a delicate touch to the foliage. These vibrant blooms stand tall about a foot above the large leaves, offering a lovely visual lift to the plant's bold presence.

This cold-hardy, disease-resistant, and drought-tolerant perennial thrives in shady spots, where it adds year-round interest without much maintenance. Bring vibrancy and texture to your shade garden with Jack of Diamonds Brunnera that's sure to stand out with its massive leaves and blue blooms. Grow yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a shady location with well-drained, slightly moist soil. Dig a hole that is twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball. Gently remove the plant from its container and place it in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Fill the hole with soil, pressing lightly to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil.

2. Watering: After planting, keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks to establish the roots. Once the plant is established, it is relatively drought-tolerant but will benefit from regular watering during dry periods. Water deeply when the soil begins to dry out, especially in warmer months. Be careful not to overwater, as this plant prefers well-drained soil.

3. Fertilizing: The Jack of Diamonds Brunnera is a low-maintenance plant and doesn’t require heavy feeding. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring, just as new growth begins. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can cause excessive leaf growth at the expense of flowers.
