1. Planting: Choose a location with partial to full sun, ensuring the soil is well-draining but retains moisture. Dig a hole that’s twice as wide as the root ball and place the shrub at the same depth it was growing in its container. Backfill with a mixture of compost and native soil. Spread a 3-inch settled layer of mulch extending 3 feet around the shrub, keeping mulch a few inches away from the base of the stems. Mulch helps conserve moisture, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.

2. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the first few growing seasons. Once established, this shrub is somewhat drought tolerant, but regular watering during dry spells will keep it looking its best. 

3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is recommended and should be done in early summer after the first flowering is finished. Focus on removing any dead or diseased wood. Avoid removing too much wood or harsh pruning as this may not leave enough time for buds to grow for the next year's bloom.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive foliage with fewer blooms.
