A compact beauty for cold climates
The Montrose Charm White Spruce Tree is a stunning addition to any landscape, thanks to its charming compact stature and upright branching. This moderate-growing spruce exhibits a unique narrow pyramidal shape, making it the perfect choice for smaller yards or garden corners where space is limited. Its soft, blue-green needles provide a lush backdrop all year round, giving your landscape texture and visual interest from the ground up.
This tree stands out not just for its size but also for its exceptional cold hardiness. Native to Canada and the northern United States, white spruces are known for their ability to handle tough conditions like snow, ice, wind, drought, and even heat. The Montrose Charm White Spruce Tree also provides habitat for birds while being highly deer resistant. Whether you’re looking to create a focal point, natural privacy screen, or simply enhance the beauty of your garden, this tree makes an excellent choice for any cold-climate setting.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a location that receives full sun to partial shade and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper than the root ball itself. Carefully place the tree in the hole and backfill with soil, gently packing it around the roots. Spread a 3” layer of mulch three feet around the tree, pulling it back a few inches from the trunk.
2. Watering: Water the tree thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few months. Once established, the Montrose Charm Spruce is relatively drought-resistant but appreciates regular watering during prolonged dry spells.
3. Pruning: Pruning is generally not needed for this tree, but if you want to maintain its shape or remove any dead or diseased branches, do so in late winter before new growth begins.
4. Fertilizing: Fertilize annually in the spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to promote healthy growth. Ensure the fertilizer is well-distributed around the soil, avoiding direct contact with the roots.
