Vibrant blooms with delicate foliage for easy-care beauty
If you’re looking for a low-maintenance perennial that brings a cheerful touch to your garden, look no further. This plant dazzles with its light yellow flowers that dance gracefully throughout the summer and into fall. Its delicate, airy foliage creates a soft impression that effortlessly complements any landscape style, from cottage gardens to modern designs. As one of the easiest perennials to grow, it thrives in full sun and requires minimal care, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.
Beyond its lovely appearance, this plant is remarkably resilient. With outstanding drought resistance, it stands up to dry spells while still attracting butterflies, creating a lively and harmonious outdoor space. Recognized as the 1992 Perennial Plant of the Year, it's a tried-and-true favorite that will enhance your yard and bring joy for years to come.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil to ensure the best growth. Dig a hole that’s twice the width of the root ball and place the plant gently inside, covering the roots with soil. Water thoroughly after planting to help establish roots. Though ‘Moonbeam’ is a sterile cultivar, it can spread through underground roots, so be sure to plant it in an area where it has room to spread out.
2. Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. During the first season, water regularly to help the plant get established. Once established, it is exceptionally drought resistant and requires minimal watering.
3. Pruning: To encourage more blooms and maintain a tidy appearance, lightly deadhead spent flowers throughout the growing season. Alternatively, in mid-summer, shear the plant back by two-thirds to promote a strong fall rebloom.
4. Fertilizing: This plant doesn't require much fertilizer. A light application of an all-purpose fertilizer in early spring can help promote healthy growth.
