Cold Hardy, Non-Invasive Screen with a Tropical Feel
Why Multiplex Bamboo Plants?
Delivering a tropical feel and easy growth that’s non-invasive, the Multiplex Bamboo Plant is a cold hardy, sub-tropical variety that will provide you with a unique screen in no time. In fact, it thrives all the way down to 10 degrees, so its lush growth stands up to tough conditions with ease.
Nicknamed the Hedge Bamboo or Clumping Bamboo, Multiplex is a fast grower that forms into a dense living wall, capable of reaching heights of up to 30 feet in less than 2 years. But it’s so versatile that you can grow it as an exotic privacy fence or plant it in a container on your patio. Its dense, clumping growth makes it well-suited to hedging along borders, driveways, and beyond. And unlike many other bamboo varieties, it’s non-invasive.
No matter where it grows, the yellowish-green Multiplex is perfect for creating a secluded, island-inspired retreat. You can keep it at your desired height easily by pruning just once yearly, meaning you won’t have to continuously trim your Multiplex to get the look you want. And since it’s drought-tolerant, the rain takes care of the watering for you.
Why Fast-Growing-Trees.com is Better
When you order from Fast Growing Trees, your Multiplex Bamboo is healthy and well-rooted, ready for explosive growth. Other nurseries and garden centers, if they offer the Multiplex, supply weaker varieties that take longer to establish in your landscape.
Your Multiplex Bamboo arrives at your door with better growth and better development because we’ve planted, grown, and shipped it with care. In fact, you could get your own green screen in the first year with our larger sizes.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant in an area with well-drained soil and full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily).
Dig a hole that’s large enough to accommodate your Bamboo’s root ball, place your plant, and then backfill your soil. After planting, water the surrounding soil and mulch to conserve moisture.
If you’re planting in a container, select a pot that has drainage holes and ensure that it’s approximately twice the size of your plant’s shipped container. Use organic soil, place your plant in the pot, and then select a sunny spot on your porch or patio for your Multiplex.
2. Watering: The Multiplex needs plenty of moisture, especially when it’s young, so water every other day for the first month. After that, check the surrounding soil about 3 inches down and only water if this area is dry. For your container-planted Multiplex, water until you see it flow from the drainage holes.
3. Fertilizing: Feed in spring and late summer with a slow-release fertilizer.
4. Pruning: If you wish to keep your plants at a certain height, prune in late summer or fall. Cut at the height you wish, pruning just above the nearest node (the distinct line, often bulging a bit, that divides the sections of the bamboo stem). Otherwise, you will only need to prune new shoots annually and remove dead stems yearly.Shipping Details
