In addition to its aesthetic charm, this azalea is known for its reliable performance and disease resistance. It thrives in various conditions, which means less worry for you as a gardener. Planting this azalea can transform any space into a lush retreat, inviting nature's beauty right to your doorstep.
About Proven Winners®: Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs offers flowering shrubs, evergreens, and trees that have been tested for eight to ten years to ensure they outperform conventional varieties. That means bigger flowers, more colorful foliage, reblooming, disease resistance, new habits, or anything that makes them more beautiful and easier to grow in your landscape or garden.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose a spot with well-draining soil and partial shade to full sun for optimal growth. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and amend the soil with organic matter. Place the shrub in the hole, making sure the top of the root ball is level with the ground.
2. Watering: Water regularly, especially in the first year, to establish a strong root system. Once established, the plant is moderately drought-tolerant but performs best with consistent moisture. Be cautious not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot.
3. Pruning: Prune in early spring, just after the last frost, to promote a fuller shape and remove any dead or damaged branches. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can reduce flowering.
4. Fertilizing: After the ground has thawed in early spring, apply a slow-release fertilizer for acid loving plants like Espoma Holly Tone. Follow the package instructions for application rates.
