Hardy and Dense Dwarf Shrub With Needle-Like Evergreen Foliage
With the Pringles Dwarf Podocarpus, your yard will always have a bit of green, even in the dead of winter. This dwarf-sized shrub is the perfect low-maintenance option for any space, and its upright form means you can even prune it like a bonsai tree.
This shrub is resistant to diseases and deer, with small berries in fall that will attract birds. Its compact, dense shape makes it easy to create hedges, borders, foundation plantings, and more in your yard.
Not to mention, this hardy shrub is heat, salt, and drought-tolerant, so you can grow it in many climates, even seaside homes! It has soft, needle-like foliage in a dark green hue for an accent plant or focal point.

Planting & Care
Planting: When planting, add a mixture of topsoil or organic peat moss combined with composted cow manure to the hole. Space the shrubs about 2.5 feet apart. Make sure to plant them at least 2.5 feet away from the house or further. This shrub is moderately drought-tolerant once established and typically grows slowly to about 3 feet tall. It can thrive in both sun and shade, making it a resilient plant. Additionally, it's salt-tolerant, so it can be used in beachfront locations.
Watering: Although podocarpus shrubs are moderately drought-tolerant, they thrive with regular watering, especially when located in a sunny area. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, and ensure the shrub is planted in a well-drained zone.
Fertilizing: The Podocarpus is slow growing, so it benefits from fertilizer. Feed your tree with a well-balanced formula in early spring, before new growth emerges.
Pruning: Trimming is optional. For a more manicured look, hedge-trimming this plant works well. For a more natural appearance, you can trim occasionally for size or shape, or not at all. It can also be trimmed like a bonsai tree in containers.
