Unique Japanese Maple Offers a Kaleidoscope of Color
Add incredible visual interest to any space with the Metamorphosa® Japanese Maple! From the Proven Winners ® ColorChoice Shrubs line, this stunning plant displays show-stopping colors for three seasons. Spring is ushered in as the lacy foliage emerges in refreshing greenish-yellow hues accented by soft pink margins. The variegated leaves fade to white for the summer, with hints of reddish-orange. Autumn brings the final and most dramatic transformation, as vibrant shades of orange burst forth before shifting to deep red-violet tones.
Hardy and adaptable, the Metamorphosa® Japanese Maple will thrive in most environments. With an upright, arching habit and tolerance for a wide range of soils, this dwarf tree will grow to a height of 5-13’ with a spread of 3-10’. Resistant to disease and unattractive to deer, it loves sun and is incredibly low-maintenance.
The eye-catching colors of the Metamorphosa® Japanese Maple will make a big impact when used as a focal point in your landscape or when planted in a container. There is no shortage of appeal with this tree, from its dynamic foliage to its distinctive texture. Add the Metamorphosa® to your landscape collection today!
About Proven Winners®: Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs offers flowering shrubs, evergreens, and trees that have been tested for eight to ten years to ensure they outperform conventional varieties. That means bigger flowers, more colorful foliage, reblooming, disease resistance, new habits, or anything that makes them more beautiful and easier to grow in your landscape or garden.
Planting & Care
Planting: Choose a planting location with well-drained soil and full to partial sunlight (any area that receives 4 to 8 hours of sunlight per day). If you live in a hotter climate, give your tree some shade and protection from the harsh afternoon sun.
When you're ready to plant, dig a hole that's slightly larger than the plant's root ball and just as deep. Place your Metamorphosa® inside, backfill the soil, and water the planting site and then mulch to preserve soil moisture.
Watering: The average amount of water supplied to the most common lawn and garden plants should be adequate for your Japanese Maple (watering about once or twice weekly). During the hot summer months, water in the early morning or evening.
Fertilization: Japanese Maples do not require large amounts of nutrients. If your other lawn and garden plants do well, your maple should grow just fine. Any recommended fertilization should use a balanced complete fertilizer for shrubs and trees. This should be applied once a year in early spring, and if possible, just before the leaves appear.
