A striking conversation starter with vibrant red cones

This delightful little shrub is a standout choice for any garden, thanks to its unique, slow-growing nature and stunning spring display. Originating from a witch's broom mutation of 'Acrocona,' it bursts forth with an abundance of bright red cones that adorn its short shoots in spring. As the tiny cones mature, they turn brown but continue to add character throughout the year, creating a charming focal point in your landscape.

In its early years, this globose Norway spruce has a dense, rounded shape, and as it matures, it evolves into a broader, upright form. With its exceptional hardiness, it thrives in full sun to part shade, making it versatile for various garden settings. Whether used as a unique specimen plant or grouped for impact, this little spruce will create visual interest and bring a touch of nature’s artistry to your yard.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a location with well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight or partial shade. Dig a hole that is slightly larger than the root ball, ensuring the plant is positioned at the same depth as it was in the container. Gently pack the soil around the roots, and water thoroughly to eliminate air pockets.

2. Watering: Water the shrub regularly, especially during dry spells. Ensure the soil remains moist but not soggy. Once established, it can tolerate moderate drought but will benefit from consistent moisture.

3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed for this shrub. Remove any dead or damaged branches in early spring, and avoid heavy trimming to maintain its natural form. Light shaping can be done after the new growth emerges.

4. Fertilizing: Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth. Follow the recommended application rates on the label for the best results, but be cautious not to over-fertilize, as this can harm the plant.
