A vibrant spectacle of color from spring to fall

If you've ever longed for a dogwood that truly stands out, the Ragin Red brings bold visual interest to any landscape. With its deep, saturated crimson bracts, this tree commands attention from across your yard. As winter fades, the new foliage unfurls with a striking red blush, ensuring that the color display begins early in the season. Once the blooms arrive, the layered effect of crimson bracts atop the red leaves creates a dramatic spectacle, making it a spring event that encapsulates the beauty of nature.

As fall approaches, the Ragin Red continues to impress, with vibrant foliage that turns a brilliant red, extending the colorful display well beyond spring. Reaching a mature height of 25 feet and a width of 20 feet, this dogwood serves as a substantial focal point without overwhelming your yard. Hardy in Zones 5–9, it offers maximum color impact with minimal maintenance, proving to be a perfect addition for anyone looking to enhance their landscape.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. In cold climates, full sun can  maximize foliage colors. In warm climates, part shade is best to ensure health and prevent leaf scorch and heat stress.  Dig a hole twice the size of the rootball and as deep. Amend the native soil with organic matter or compost.  Place the tree in the center of the hole so that the top of the rootball is level with the soil line.  Backfill with the mixture of amended soil, then spread a 3" layer of mulch three feet around the tree. Water deeply.

2. Watering: Regular watering is essential, especially during the first growing season. Aim for deep watering once a week to establish strong roots, reducing frequency as the tree matures.

3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove any dead or crossing branches. This promotes air circulation and a healthier tree.

4. Fertilizing: Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support robust growth and vibrant blooms. Follow package instructions for appropriate application rates.
