A stunning display of color and form throughout the seasons

The Red Jewel® Crabapple Tree is a captivating addition to any yard or landscape, boasting an upright pyramidal form that makes it an attractive choice for gardens of all sizes. In the spring, this tree dazzles with abundant clusters of white blossoms that lend a fresh, vibrant touch to your outdoor space. As the seasons change, you can admire its lush green foliage, which serves as a perfect backdrop for the stunning display of bright cherry red fruit that adorns the branches come fall and winter. This eye-catching feature not only adds visual interest but also attracts birds and wildlife to your garden, creating a lively atmosphere.

What sets the Red Jewel® apart is its impressive disease resistance to cedar-apple rust, ensuring a healthy, vibrant tree that can withstand common challenges faced by other varieties. Whether you're looking to enhance the curb appeal of your home or create a charming focal point in your landscape, this crabapple tree delivers seasonal beauty and resilience. The combination of flower, fruit, and form makes it a versatile choice, perfect for borders, as a specimen tree, or even in smaller garden plots. Planting a Red Jewel® Crabapple Tree is a choice you won't regret; it promises year-round beauty and enjoyment for you and the creatures that visit your garden.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil for optimal growth. Dig a hole that is twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball. Gently loosen the roots if they are tightly bound, and place the tree in the hole, ensuring the graft union is level with the soil surface. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly after planting to eliminate air pockets.

2. Watering: After planting, regularly water your Red Jewel® Crabapple Tree, particularly during dry spells and the first couple of years as it establishes. Aim to provide about an inch of water per week, either through rainfall or irrigation. Be careful not to overwater, as soggy soil can lead to root rot.

3. Pruning: Prune your crabapple tree in late winter or early spring while it is still dormant. Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches to maintain an open canopy and promote healthy growth. Light thinning will encourage air circulation and bolster resistance against pests and diseases.

4. Fertilizing: In early spring, apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering trees. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the correct amount to use based on your tree's age and size. This will support robust growth and encourage a profusion of blooms.
