Big, Bright Red Color for Small Landscapes

Why Red Ruffle Azalea Shrubs?

Few shrubs are as captivating as the Red Ruffle, with its vibrant red flowers and frilly texture that's second to none. Signaling winter's end and spring's beginning, the Red Ruffle Azalea shows color when other perennials don't and does it all in a delightfully compact size.

Plus, each petal is outlined with a frilly, ruffled edge. So, you get extra volume, especially since Red Ruffle delivers a ton of 3-inch blooms that grow so densely, you almost can't see the foliage. In fact, many of them are semi-double blooms!

And when its flowers fade, the Red Ruffle's evergreen foliage still grows on and on. Some types of azaleas are deciduous, but the Red Ruffle Azalea offers dark-green foliage for a lush complement to other plants and shrubs in your landscape.

Red Ruffle packs an amazing punch in a dwarf size. If you adore azaleas, but you don't have room in your smaller landscape for a large specimen, Red Ruffle is your solution. Even better? It can perform in shade gardens. Unlike other flowering varieties that fail to reliably bloom in shade, it's a stellar performer outside full sun. From mass plantings along your driveway to overcast areas that need a bit more color or even containers next to your entryways, the Red Ruffle Azalea makes the perfect statement.

Why Fast-Growing-Trees.com is Better

In addition to its carefree growth, evergreen foliage, lack of pruning and versatility, you get a promise: The best head-start on growth possible.

When you order your Red Ruffle Azalea from Fast Growing Trees, you get a well-rooted, healthy shrub that's unlike any other. The Red Ruffle is hard to find at big-box garden centers...and if you do find a vibrant red azalea, it may be bare-root.

But your Red Ruffle from our nursery is planted and grown meticulously in nutrient-rich soil - we never ship bare-root, so you get vivid color year after year. With our bigger size, you could even get blooms as soon as the first season. Don't wait - get your Red Ruffle Azalea today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Azaleas can thrive in full to partial sun (3 to 6 hours of sunlight per day) or take up to 8 hours of sunlight in cooler environments. They adapt to a number of different soil types but prefer well-drained soil.

Dig a hole three times as wide and just as deep as the root ball. Remove the plant from the container and loosen the roots with your fingers so that they spread out once planted. Backfill the hole, watering lightly as you backfill to remove air pockets. Finally, mulch the area with 2 to 3 inches of mulch to help the plant conserve water.

If you're container-planting, select a pot that's about twice the size of your plant's shipped container, use organic soil, and place your shrub. Water the plant thoroughly until the water drains through the bottom and allow the soil to dry several inches down before watering again. Place the plant in an area where it gets 3 to 6 hours of sun.

2. Watering: During the first year, you may have to water about 2 or 3 times weekly. If you're not sure when to water, simply check your soil about 3 inches down for dryness - if the soil is dry here, it's time to water your Red Ruffle.

3. Fertilizing: Azaleas need food in order to bloom for extended periods of time. Fertilize them with a slow-release fertilizer intended for azaleas in the early spring, following label instructions.

4. Pruning: Azaleas need very little pruning, but if you'd like to prune for shaping, prune after flowering is done.
