A delightful blend of color and fragrance
Soft orange-red buds give way to exquisite, medium-sized apricot rosettes, making this variety a visual treat in any garden. Its robust nature means it stands strong against the elements, while the lovely fruity Tea scent fills your outdoor space with a sweet ambiance. Imagine strolling through your yard and catching a whiff of its fragrant, rounded blooms— it truly enhances the charm of your landscape.
This shrub boasts a bushy form with few thorns, making it a safer option for families and pets. It pays homage to the beloved tale of "James and the Giant Peach," capturing the spirit of Roald Dahl’s creative genius. Not only does it bring beauty to your garden, but purchasing this rose also supports Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, having already raised £100,000 for its worthy cause.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil to provide the best environment for growth. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and backfill with native soil and compost, watering well to settle around the roots. Spread a layer of mulch 3 feet around the shrub to conserve moisture, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.
2. Watering: Water regularly in the first growing season to help establish strong roots. Once established, this shrub is fairly drought-tolerant; however, a deep watering once a week during dry spells will keep it thriving.
3. Pruning: Prune in early spring to encourage healthy blooms. Remove dead or damaged wood and shape the bush to promote an open center for air circulation, which helps reduce disease risk. Up to 1/3 of the shrub can safely be removed at pruning.
4. Fertilizing: Incorporate a slow release rose fertilizer like Espoma Rose Tone in early spring to support overall health and flowering. Fertilize again in early summer, but avoid fertilizing after mid-summer. Follow package rates.
