Fragrant, Fall-Blooming Camellia

Camellia sasanqua 'Setsugekka' adds a touch of refinement and elegance wherever it is planted. This evergreen shrub produces semi-double showy white flowers that boast ruffled edges and bright golden yellow stamens. The blooms are accented against glossy foliage that remains dark green even during the winter, providing plenty of visual interest.

A vigorous grower, the round flowers of the Setsugekka offer a lovely and unique fragrance. This low-maintenance plant is a mid-season bloomer and is one of the most striking specimens that can be found in the fall.

Whether grown as a shrub or a small tree, ‘Setsugekka’ brings its graceful beauty to every landscape. It is an excellent choice for a screen, hedge, or espalier. Add to beds and borders, or use as a focal point in a mixed garden. While this camellia can tolerate heat, it will grow best when planted in an area with some shade. Order yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant in an area that receives at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight per day and has well-drained, rich, acidic soil.

Dig a hole twice the size of your plant's root ball. Backfill the soil and water to establish.

2. Watering: Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Then, reduce the frequency once established. If you're unsure when to water, poke your finger three inches down. If it's dry, it's time to water.

3. Fertilizing: Apply an acid-rich fertilizer after your camellias bloom.

4. Pruning: Only prune after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers.
