Unusual Pink-Red Blades Add Autumnal Color
Why Shenandoah Switch Grass?
Versatile and easy to grow, this grass thrives in nearly any landscape. It just needs sun and a little water to grow its signature, dense clumps of elegant, arching grass.
Few grasses native to North America are as uniquely colored as Shenandoah Switch Grass. In mid-summer, the tips of the green grass turn pink-red. This color remains through winter. Gardeners plant the grass in mass plantings, specimen plants, or even in containers to add color and movement to their landscaping.
Shenandoah Switch Grass is extremely adaptable. Not only does it thrive in any type of soil, but it can also be planted in both full or partial sunlight. What’s more, you don’t have to worry about it in times of drought or extreme heat, and it's tolerant of pollution and salt. It's even deer and black walnut resistant!

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant in an area with full to partial sun (4-8 hours of sunlight per day). Select a location with well-drained soil and dig a hole that's large enough to accommodate your plant's root ball. After you've planted, mulch the surrounding area and water to settle the roots.
2. Watering: Water the grass weekly for the first three months. After that, it becomes quite drought tolerant.
3. Pruning: Prune back this grass to the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges for a clean start and a fresh looking plant.
