A stunning display of double pink blossoms

The Shirofugen Flowering Cherry Tree brings an enchanting touch to any garden with its stunning double blooms that start as soft pink and gracefully transition to white. As a fast-growing tree that reaches heights of 20 to 30 feet, it provides a majestic presence in your landscape. This tree is not only visually appealing but also boasts young foliage that showcases a unique copper color, adding an extra layer of interest during its early growth stages. Its wide-spreading form creates a beautiful canopy, inviting plenty of shade for gatherings beneath its branches.

Planting this tree is an excellent way to enhance your yard, whether you want to create a focal point or add depth to your landscape design. Coming alive with a breathtaking floral display in spring, this tree is a showstopper that draws the eye and inspires admiration from neighbors and guests alike. Additionally, being hardy in Zone 5 makes it a reliable choice for various locations, ensuring that it thrives and flourishes in your outdoor space.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a location that receives full sunlight for at least six hours a day. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Gently place the tree in the hole, ensuring that the graft union is above the soil line. Backfill with a mix of compost and native soil, then spread a 3" settled layer of mulch out to the dripline, pulling it back a few inches from the trunk. Water thoroughly to eliminate air pockets.

2. Watering: During the tree's first 1-3 years, water regularly to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Once established, it needs less frequent watering but still benefits from supplemental watering during prolonged dry spells.  Cherry trees are shallow rooted and prone to heat stress. Keeping the tree well mulched throughout its life will help reduce stress and keep the tree healthy.

3. Pruning: Pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before blossoms appear. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches to encourage healthy growth and maintain its pleasing shape.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a balanced tree fertilizer to promote strong growth and flowering. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the correct application rate.
