Pollination Info
Bushel and Berry® Silver Dollar® Blueberry Pollination
Bushel and Berry® Silver Dollar® Blueberrys are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Bushel and Berry® Silver Dollar® Blueberry will drastically increase the size of your crop.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: To prepare your container, fill it with potting soil until it reaches 3 inches below the rim, but make sure not to pack it too tightly. Next, remove the plants from their growing or shipping containers. Carefully loosen the root system of each plant from the soil ball to prevent the roots from encircling the soil ball. Place each plant in the container so that the root ball is level with the soil surface. Fill the container with the remaining soil.
2. Watering: Water moderately until well-rooted. Water as needed by checking soil moisture. Blueberries require thorough watering during summer, heavy mulching, and acidic soil due to their shallow root system. Since this variety is not drought-resistant, ensure you’re watering regularly.
3. Fertilizing: Wait until the blueberry plants have leafed out before fertilizing them. Then, use a solution specifically formulated for blueberries.
4. Pruning: Blueberries do not require pruning until their third season when they begin to produce fruit.
5. Pollination: Since this is a self-pollinating variety, you don’t have to add other blueberry varieties unless you want higher-yielding crops.
