Exceptional spring blooms and stunning fall color
The Snow Crystal® Crabapple Tree is a delightful addition to any landscape, showcasing an impressive display of pure white flowers in spring that transform into vibrant yellow to orange fruits later in the season. This small to medium-sized tree gracefully fills your yard with seasonal beauty, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their outdoor space. The delicate petals of the snow-white blossoms attract pollinators, bringing life and energy to your garden while creating a serene backdrop for your outdoor gatherings.
Beyond its stunning aesthetics, the Snow Crystal® Crabapple Tree is celebrated for its hardy nature and resilience in various soil types. This tree not only provides a seasonal transformation but also serves as an excellent source of shade during the hotter months. This crabapple has excellent disease-resistance to scab, fireblight, cedar apple rust, and mildew. Additionally, its ornamental character means it can serve as a focal point in your landscape design, whether as a standalone specimen or as part of a colorful garden border. Planting this tree means not just beautifying your yard, but also benefiting local wildlife and creating a haven for birds and beneficial insects.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose a location with full sun, ideally in well-draining soil. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball and about the same depth. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring that the top of the root ball is level with the ground. Backfill with soil, gently tamping down to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting.
2. Watering: Ensure consistent moisture during the first growing season to help establish a strong root system. After the initial season, the Snow Crystal® Crabapple Tree is somewhat drought-tolerant, but regular watering during extended dry spells will keep it healthy and thriving. Aim to water deeply, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between sessions.
3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Focus on removing dead or damaged branches and thinning out crowded areas to improve airflow and light penetration. This will encourage healthier growth and a more attractive shape. Avoid heavy pruning to maintain the tree's natural form.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth. Follow up with an additional feeding in late spring if needed, based on soil testing. Avoid excessive fertilization, as this can lead to overly vigorous growth and increased susceptibility to pests and diseases.
