Why Star Jasmine Plants?
The Star Jasmine is famous for a sweet fragrance that fills up your backyard or patio plus its long-lasting, bright white blooms that deliver unmatched beauty. Even better? It couldn't be easier to grow.
The Star Jasmine is great for any garden or landscape. White, pinwheel-shaped flowers emerge in spring, along with textured glossy green leaves. These gorgeous blooms fill the air with a sweet, honey-like aroma.
Considered a night bloomer, the Star Jasmine's blossoms open in the early evening when temperatures cool down. To create an air of romance on your deck or terrace, plant the jasmine in containers where its trailing vines can gently spill over the side.
Plus, it's hardy and robust. It will tolerate high heat as well as temperatures as low as 10 degrees. It's adaptable to most soil types, and it's moderately drought-tolerant. So, no matter where you live, you can grow this incomparable vine.
NOTE: This product is specific to Arizona. Find Star Jasmine available in other states.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Before planting your Jasmine in the ground, moisten the roots and set it in the shade for a few days. When you’re ready to plant, place your Jasmine in full sun to partial shade, avoiding deep shade (4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily). Although clay, loam and sandy soil can accommodate your tree, try to choose a location with well-draining, slightly acidic soil.
Dig a hole about as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide. Set the plant in the hole, spreading out the roots over the surface of the hole. Fill the hole in with a mixture of the original soil and any additional topsoil required. Eliminate any air pockets that may have formed by tamping down firmly. Water the area until the top 3 inches of soil becomes moist but not soaked.
2. Watering: Water regularly in the first year after planting. Wait until the top 3 inches of soil dry out before watering again.
3. Fertilizing: Apply a complete fertilizer in early spring such as 10-10-10, preferably one with slow-release nitrogen and follow the directions on the packaging.
