Cold-Hardy, Tropical Hibiscus

Add a splash of the tropics to your landscape with the Summer in Paradise Hibiscus! This dreamy perennial will have you thinking of sandy beaches and soft ocean breezes with its ruffled petals and brilliant color. Huge saucer-shaped blooms span 7-8” and are an incredible shade of vivid reddish pink, with a rich burgundy center.

The flowers of the Summer in Paradise Hibiscus are set against lush, deep green foliage accented with olive green edges. Sun-loving and cold-hardy, this plant grows in a rounded habit and blooms continuously from mid-summer through early fall.

This hibiscus is perfect for container planting as well as adding along borders or as a focal point in mixed beds. While bees and butterflies will flock to the Summer in Paradise, deer and rabbits are happy to leave it alone. It will flourish quickly, filling out beautifully during the growing season. Order your piece of paradise today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Summer in Paradise Hibiscus in an area with moist, well-draining soil that receives full to partial sun (4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily). Once you've selected your location, dig a hole large enough to accommodate your shrub's root ball.

If you're planting in a container, select a pot that's about twice the width of your shrub's shipped container. Use organic soil, place your shrub, and select a sunny spot.

If your Hibiscus is container-planted in a colder climate, just bring it inside in the winter when the temperature starts to drop.

2. Watering: Water your Hibiscus once or twice weekly. If you're not sure when to water, check your shrub's soil about 2 or 3 inches down for dryness.

3. Fertilizing: Use a well-balanced fertilizer in the spring to encourage blooming, and follow label instructions.

4. Pruning: Stems die back in colder climates, so cut them to the ground in late fall or early spring. New growth will emerge each spring. Remove spent flowers to keep the plant looking tidy.
