Classic Good Looks, Long-Lasting Fruit

Looking for a classic, flowering beauty to add interest to your landscape year-round? The Sweet Sugar Tyme Crabapple provides, with fragrant white flowers and red fruit that lasts through cold, ice and snow.

Classic elegance, season to season. The Sweet Sugar Tyme Crabapple features delicate, pale-pink buds that turn into clouds of white flowers in spring. Abundant, glossy red fruit adds color throughout the winter, even through inclement weather and cold. Plus, lush green foliage turns bronze-yellow in the fall, adding a dose of autumn color.

Adaptable, compact size. A semi-dwarf habit lends the Sweet Sugar Tyme Crabapple a compact size that fits neatly almost anywhere, from small landscapes to sidewalks and commercial areas to underneath power lines. Growing up to 10 feet tall and 10 feet wide, it works well as a standalone specimen or in a group.

Low-maintenance beauty. The Sweet Sugar Tyme Crabapple's flowering branches and fruit add beauty to any landscape, without a lot of work. It requires little pruning to maintain its shape, and is largely resistant to disease and drought.

Pollination Info

Sweet Sugar Tyme® Crabapple Pollination

Sweet Sugar Tyme® Crabapples are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Sweet Sugar Tyme® Crabapple will drastically increase the size of your crop.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: The Sweet Sugar Tyme Crabapple thrives in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. For best results, find a spot in your yard that receives full sun.

Once you've found your spot, dig a hole that's large enough to accommodate the root ball, place your tree and fill with soil. Water the surrounding area well to settle the roots.

2. Watering: Water regularly until established. Once established, Sugar Tyme Crabapple trees are moderately drought resistant - just water when soil is dry 3 inches down.

3. Fertilizing: Add a 5-5-5 fertilizer in early spring each year.

4. Pruning: Your Sweet Sugar Tyme Crabapple doesn't require much pruning to maintain its classic shape. Prune optionally in later winter or early spring to remove broken or damaged branches.
