A stunning blend of color and fragrance
The Vanessa Bell® Rose Shrub captivates garden enthusiasts with its soft, peachy-yellow blooms that warm any landscape. This English shrub rose, bred by David Austin, is not just about looks; it showcases a combination of delicate petals and a delightful, fruity fragrance that delights the senses. With its bushy growth habit and manageable size, it's perfect for borders, mixed beds, or even as a focal point in pots. Its ability to attract bees and butterflies while providing continuous blooms throughout the season makes it a valuable addition to any garden.
One of the key reasons to choose this rose shrub is its resilience. The Vanessa Bell® is bred for disease resistance, making it easier to care for and ensuring it remains a standout in your garden year after year. This dependable beauty not only adds aesthetic charm but also promotes a healthy garden ecosystem. Planting this rose will bring color, fragrance, and a touch of elegance, joining the ranks of beloved landscape staples.
Planting & Care
1: Planting: For optimal growth, plant the Vanessa Bell® Rose in a location that receives at least six hours of sunlight each day. Choose well-draining soil enriched with organic matter for the best results. Dig a hole that is about twice the width of the root ball and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably. Position the plant at the same depth it was in its container, backfill with soil, and gently firm it down around the base.
2. Watering: Water your rose shrub deeply and consistently, especially during the first growing season. Once established, it prefers moderate watering; aim to keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. During dry spells, a thorough soaking once a week is usually sufficient. Use mulch around the base to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
3. Pruning: Prune your Vanessa Bell® Rose in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches to encourage an open center and improved air circulation. Cutting back about one-third of the previous year’s growth can promote lush new growth and more abundant blooms.
4. Fertilizing: Feed your rose shrub with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring and again in mid-summer, following package instructions. This will support healthy growth and flowering. If you prefer organic methods, well-composted manure or commercial organic rose food can also be used.
