Compact Bougainvillea With Nonstop Purple Blooms

The Vera Deep Purple Bougainvillea is a bold, bushy variety that delivers nonstop color without unruly vines. Unlike traditional bougainvilleas, this dwarf hybrid grows with a compact, upright habit that’s ideal for containers, borders, and small-space landscapes. Instead of sprawling, it stays neatly in place while showing off plumes of rich purple flowers.

One of its most standout features? Consistent blooms. While other bougainvilleas pause during shorter days, the Vera Deep Purple keeps on flowering. Its vibrant bracts are unaffected by seasonal shifts and even retain their bold hue as they age, so you’ll enjoy saturated color for longer stretches.

Once established, this plant is drought and heat-tolerant and is a natural fit for patios, sunny garden beds, and warm-climate landscapes. In frost-free zones, use it as a standout landscape shrub; in cooler regions, grow it in containers and overwinter indoors.

Whether you're looking to liven up your porch with an eye-catching patio plant or add blooms to your borders, the Vera Deep Purple Bougainvillea offers vivid color, a tidy shape, and reliable performance all year round. Grow yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting:  Choose a spot that receives full sun (up to 6 hours a day) with well-drained soil. If growing in a container, use a cactus/succulent mix or sandy soil. Plant slightly above soil level and water deeply to establish.

2. Watering:  Water regularly when young; once established, allow the soil to dry between waterings.

3. Fertilizing:  Feed with a balanced fertilizer in early spring and again mid-season to promote flowering.

4. Pruning: Lightly trim after blooming to shape and encourage new growth. Prune dead or straggly stems anytime. This variety requires little maintenance to keep its form.
