Blazing Red, Low-Maintenance Hibiscus
The incredible vibrant red blooms of the Hot Shot™ Hollywood Hibiscus® will stop traffic! Large, fire-engine red flowers are bright and dazzling, perfectly complemented by deep green foliage. A continuous rebloomer, the Hot Shot™ puts on a colorful show from spring through first frost.
Bring poolside vacation vibes to any space that needs brightening up. In warmer climates, Hot Shot™ is perfect for adding to mixed beds and borders, or as a landscape accent. For cooler areas, plant in containers and use them to decorate patios and decks, then bring inside for the winter.
Easy to grow and maintain, this sun-loving annual is perfect for any type of gardener. Its deep centers feature tall, bright yellow stamens, which pollinators will flock to but deer and rabbits prefer to avoid.
About Proven Winners®: Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs offers flowering shrubs, evergreens, and trees that have been tested for eight to ten years to ensure they outperform conventional varieties. That means bigger flowers, more colorful foliage, reblooming, disease resistance, new habits, or anything that makes them more beautiful and easier to grow in your landscape or garden.
Hot Shot™ is part of the Hollywood Hibiscus® collection, a series created for their high bloom counts and resistance to disease and pests. Order yours today!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant your Hot Shot™ Hibiscus in an area with moist, well-draining soil that receives full sun (at least 6 hours of sunlight daily).
Once you've selected your location, dig a hole large enough to accommodate your shrub's root ball.
If you're planting in a container, select a pot that's about twice the width of your shrub's shipped container. Use organic soil, place your shrub, and put it in a sunny spot.
If your Hibiscus is container-planted in a colder climate, bring it inside for the winter when the temperature starts to drop.
2. Watering: Water your Hibiscus once or twice weekly. If you're not sure when to water, check your shrub's soil about 2 or 3 inches down for dryness.
3. Fertilizing: For best blooming, fertilize regularly using a low-phosphorus fertilizer.
4. Pruning: To encourage the plants to be bushy and more compact, pinch them off when new growth starts to appear.
