Unlike traditional hollies, its evergreen leaves are soft to the touch, and devoid of spines, offering a soft texture to your garden. What's more, the new growth is delicately tinged with burgundy, adding a subtle yet striking contrast to its canopy.
One of the standout qualities of the Arrow Point® Japanese Holly is its resilience. This holly is disease-resistant, pest-resistant, and drought-tolerant, making it a low-maintenance option for gardeners of any experience level. Whether planted as a smaller shrub or allowed to mature into a towering focal point, the Arrow Point® Japanese Holly thrives effortlessly, adapting to various conditions with ease.
Add this holly as a charming entryway accent, a striking focal point in mixed borders, or even as a screen or tall hedge, thanks to its upright, narrow habit. Grow your Arrow Point® Japanese Holly today!
Pollination Info
Arrow Point® Japanese Holly Pollination
We carry male and female hollies at our nursery, and you will need both to produce berries on the female plant. However, hollies are hard to tell apart when they are not fruiting, and we can’t guarantee whether you will receive a male or female. For best results, we suggest planting in groups to enjoy berries on the female plants and lush greenery on both year-round.
Planting & Care
2. Watering: Water frequently during the first year while it gets established. Then, water weekly. If you're unsure of when to water, stick your finger 2-3 inches into the dirt. If it's dry, it's time to water.
3. Fertilizing: Fertilize as needed according to label directions using a fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants.
4. Pruning: These hollies are naturally compact and do not require pruning. However, if you wish to shape your shrub, the tight growth accepts shearing well, and pruning may encourage additional burgundy-tinted growth.
