Azaleas prefer slightly acidic soil but will adapt to your natural soil even if it's sandy or heavy in clay, as long as it's well-draining. Keep your soil moist and not over-saturated. Make sure that your azalea doesn't sit in standing water.
Azaleas don't need any fertilizer, but you can give them an acidic fertilizer early every Spring and Fall to give your flowers a boost.
