Drought Tolerant, Low Maintenance Perennial Shrub

Looking for a show-stopping perennial shrub that you can neglect for weeks? Then the Desert Spoon is just the plant for you!

This agave relative, also known as the Spoon Yucca Plant, is native to the Chihuahua Desert of North and Central America. It’s the perfect accent piece, focal point, or potted plant for rock gardens or spaces that have a desert, Southwest, or eclectic vibe

Unlike other perennial shrubs, the Desert Spoon a semi-succulent plant with long and slender foliage. Its serrated leaves are silver-green and often sharp to the touch. At the shrub's base, its leaves curve inward, giving the plant its name: Desert Spoon.

When the Desert Spoon is mature, beautiful flowers will sprout from its base. These blooms will come in a range of colors, from purple-pink to creamy yellow. And during the Desert Spoon's blooming season, bees and hummingbirds will appear more frequently to enjoy its fluffy, caterpillar-like blossoms.

Maintenance is minimal for your Desert Spoon plant. Once established, the plant only requires watering every 2-4 weeks. It thrives in dry, arid conditions but can even tolerate some shade and humidity.

Ready for a low-maintenance, desert-friendly plant? Grab your Desert Spoon today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Desert Spoon in a location that receives full sun at least 6 hours per day. Although this plant is very tolerant to soil conditions, we recommend planting it in well draining soil. At the planting location, dig a hole that is 2-3 times the width and the same depth as the root ball. Place the plant in the hole and backfill the dirt. Water immediately to help  the dirt settle.

2. Watering: Water regularly until your Desert Spoon is established (at least until the first winter season). Once established, you may reduce waterings to only once every 2-4 weeks.
