Grow Plenty of Apples in a Little Space!
Slightly tart and golden-green, the Golden Treat™ Columnar Apple is one of the best low-maintenance apple trees. In the springtime, this tree has showy shell pink flowers that turn into apples ready for harvest in September. Just 1-2 years after planting, the Golden Treat™ tree produces plenty of fruit perfect for eating, preserving, and baking.
Thanks to its columnar growth habit, the Golden Treat™ Apple is perfect for fitting into small spaces. Fruit grows on spurs along the main stem, keeping growth narrow and tidy. This tree works well for those with limited full sun space and for those who want a container fruit tree.
The Golden Treat™ Apple can thrive in nearly every garden, large or small. It’s extremely easy to care for and is a disease-resistant variety. If you have minimal space but want full-sized apples, the Golden Treat™ Apple is the ideal fruit tree for you. Order yours online today!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Your apple tree will require full sunlight, receiving around 6-8 hours of sunlight a day. Apple trees tolerate most soil but prefer well-draining and loamy soil. Allow sufficient space for the top of the tree and the root system when planting. After planting, add a layer of mulch to conserve moisture, ensuring it doesn’t touch the base of the trunk.
If planting in a container, use a container with drainage holes that is roughly twice the size of the tree’s root ball. Use potting soil and water deeply to settle in the roots after planting.
2. Watering: Water your apple tree deeply by placing a soaker hose at the base of the apple tree trunk and allowing it to soak into the soil for a couple of minutes. Once established, the tree will require very little supplemental watering. Water during periods of drought.
3. Pruning: Once your tree begins to bear fruit, it will require some light pruning to maintain shape. Only prune during the dormant season, removing any weak and vigorous, upright stems. branches.
4. Fertilizing: Use an apple-specific fertilizer. Follow the instructions on the label, generally applying the fertilizer from April to August.
5. Pollinator Info: Like all apples, there needs to be another apple tree nearby to cross-pollinate with one another; Tasty Red, Blushing Delight, Sweet Tart, and Tangy Green are all great varieties to pollinate this tree with. Bees are traditionally the main pollinator for apple trees.
