Planting & Care
1. Planting: This plant prefers well-drained soils but can adapt to other soil types as well. It flourishes best in full sun, ideally receiving at least six hours of sunlight daily, though it can tolerate light shade, especially in warmer climates. For optimal results, space the plants 1 to 1.5 feet apart.
2. Watering: Midnight Sun® Weigela plants require average watering. During the first growing season, it's important to water them deeply and consistently to establish a strong root system. After the first season, these plants can tolerate some drought, but they may need additional watering during extended dry periods.
First growing season: Water deeply and consistently.
After the first season: Water once a week or whenever there is no rainfall.
3. Pruning: If needed, prune right after the spring blooming period.
4. Fertilizing: If desired, fertilize in early spring with a granular fertilizer designed for woody plants, such as rose fertilizer. Use Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in both spring and mid-summer.
