Heavy Fruit Production of Large, Juicy Mangoes
Named after the football legend Tim Tebow, the Tebow Mango is a champion in the world of tropical fruit. With its origins from the University of Florida Tropical Research and Education Center, this hybrid tree is relatively small compared to other mango varieties and packs a lot of flavor into its heavy fruit production.
With proper care, this tree promises years of harvests, bringing the taste of the tropics right to your backyard. The Tebow Mango has an oval shape and vibrant skin transitioning from green to yellow with tasty notes of pineapple and coconut. Weighing in at approximately one pound each, Tebow Mangoes are a harmonious blend of sweetness and juiciness, free of fibers and perfect for enjoying fresh, adding to salads, or blending into juices and smoothies.
Reaching a height of about 15 feet, its manageable size makes the Tebow Mango an excellent choice for both home gardens and container cultivation. In terms of growing conditions, the Tebow Mango tree does best in warm climates with plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil. Plus, it’s disease-resistant and self-pollinating, so you’ll only need one tree for delicious fruit.
If you love mangoes and want to grow your own fruit at home, look no further than the Tebow Mango. Get yours today!
Pollination Info
Tebow Mango Tree Pollination
Tebow Mango Trees are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Tebow Mango Tree will drastically increase the size of your crop.
Planting & Care
Planting: Mango trees will generally grow well in many soil types as long as there is good drainage. Find an area that receives full sun—at least 6 hours a day. Dig a hole at least twice the size of the root ball. After placing your Tebow Mango into the hole, backfill the hole and water to establish.
Watering: The Tebow Mango requires moderate watering throughout the year (at least once a week) with more watering throughout the flowering and fruiting seasons and less during the winter. Careful not to overwater though as its prone to root rot.
Fertilizer: DO NOT USE CHEMICAL FERTILIZER! Mangoes are easily burnt by fertilizers high in ammonium nitrate. The best fertilizer is a natural, organic one with mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria. A little gardening secret that Indians used to do that works wonders on mangoes, bury a fish touching the roots of your plant. The fish contains lots of nutrient crucial to a mango in its first years. Potted mangoes will benefit from a balanced fertilizer formula such as a 10-10-10 while actively growing. Cut back on feeding the tree nitrogen in flowering period, instead provide a boost of phosphorus and potassium.
Weed Control: Weeds steal vital nutrients from the plants around them. The best way to keep weeds at bay and help your tree grow is with pine bark. Placing a one-inch thick layer three feet around the base of your tree will stop the weeds. Also another bonus is as the pine bark decomposes, it will raise the acidity of your soil naturally!
Pruning: Be sure to cut back any dead branches or leaves during the winter to promote new growth during the spring.
Pollination: The Tebow Mango is self-pollinating, so it only requires one tree to produce delicious mangoes. However, planting multiple mango trees will increase your harvests.
