How to Grow Orange Trees
Zesty, juicy and deliciously sweet, home-grown Orange Trees are one of the most popular varieties for gardeners who love having their own fruit at home - and it's no wonder why! The best part is that Orange Trees are simple to grow with the right tips.
Remember that planting directions will depend on the orange variety you choose, but all Orange Trees must be grown in the proper growing zones to start (or indoors, if you live in a cooler area). The most important factors will be proper sunlight and water for your tree.
For your Orange Tree, select an area with well-drained soil or choose a container large enough to accommodate the tree’s root ball, place your tree, and backfill the soil. Finally, water the surrounding soil to settle your tree’s roots and mulch to conserve moisture if it's growing outside.
How to Plant Orange Trees
First, plant your Orange Trees in early spring if they're staying outside. However, you can plant your Orange Trees in pots to stay on the porch or move indoors nearly any time of year. We do recommend container growing unless you live in a warm, humid area with steady temperatures throughout the year, like Southern Florida or California.
