Beautiful Variegated Foliage on a Petite Perennial
Few small shrubs pack as much visual interest as the Bubbly Wine® Weigela. It has chartreuse variegated leaves that stand out from spring to fall, with pale pink bell-shaped flowers that bloom in late spring. The blooms become abundant and long-lasting before letting the leaves shine as the focal point in the summer.
A deciduous perennial, the Bubbly Wine® Weigela is compact and round. It’s perfect for mass plantings, as a feature planting in garden beds, or in low borders. Thanks to its compact size, it also works well as a container plant for patios and decks.
The Bubbly Wine® Weigela is very low-maintenance and cold hardy to Zone 4. It’s deer-resistant but attracts pollinators, including butterflies and bees. Overall, it’s very versatile and easy to grow in the garden.
Add this perennial to your yard today and order the Bubbly Wine® Weigela from Fast Growing Trees!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Weigela grows best in full sun but can also handle partial sun. They prefer well-drained and moist soil. Before planting, mix compost into the soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the plant’s root ball, then backfill while holding the plant sturdy and upright.
2. Watering: Weigela has average water needs. Water frequently until established, then only water during periods of drought. Those planted in containers will need frequent watering.
3. Pruning: Pruning isn’t necessary, only if you want to maintain a specific shape or size. If needed, prune after the plants have finished flowering in the season.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a slow-release fertilizer designed for flowering shrubs in early spring.
