Fast-Growing, Flowering Evergreen Vine
Are you ready to fill your space with intoxicatingly fragrant, yellow blossoms? The Yellow Jasmine, also known as Carolina Jessamine or Carolina Jasmine, is a fast-growing, flowering evergreen vine that provides cheerful yellow blooms and year-round beauty.
Say goodbye to flowering plants that look bare in the cooler months. The evergreen foliage of Carolina Jasmine remains attractive throughout the year. Even during cooler weather, its glossy leaves maintain a rich green color, often accented with attractive purple-tinted new growth.
In early spring, Carolina Jasmine bursts into bloom with bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers. These fragrant, five-petaled blooms fill the air with a sweet scent while helping support native pollinators. As a plant native to the southeastern United States, Carolina Jasmine plays an important role in local ecosystems and is well-suited to native pollinator species, which are believed to be naturally adapted to its nectar.
The Yellow Jasmine is not only elegant and decorative, but it can also be utilized in almost every landscape. Its versatile growth habit allows you to train or prune it to suit your needs. Let it climb a trellis or fence, cascade over a wall, or spread as a flowering groundcover. You can even grow Carolina Jasmine in a container, where its vines can spill gracefully over the edges or be pruned into a more compact, shrub-like form.
Disguising unappealing landscape elements is simple with Carolina Jasmine. Thanks to its vigorous growth, it quickly covers fences, walls, and other areas you'd rather keep out of sight while adding color and fragrance to your landscape. You can expect Carolina Jasmine to grow up to 5 feet per year until it reaches its mature length of approximately 20 feet.
Pollinator Note: Carolina Jasmine supports many native pollinators; however, its nectar contains naturally occurring compounds that may be harmful to honeybees if it serves as their primary nectar source during the bloom period. For this reason, it is best planted as part of a diverse landscape with a variety of flowering plants that provide nectar throughout the season.
Fill your space with the all-season beauty of fast-growing Carolina Jasmine and enjoy its fragrant yellow flowers year after year. Get yours today!
Note: This plant is toxic to all if consumed, so please use caution if you have curious pets and/or children.
Planting & Care
Planting: Plant your Carolina Jasmine in an area with full sun. Although this plant can tolerate a small amount of shade, it thrives in full sun.
Watering: Water your Carolina Jasmine deeply the first two months twice a week after planting to allow the plant to root well. Once the plant has rooted and is established, water as needed to keep the soil moist.
Fertilizing: In the early spring, fertilize your Yellow Jasmine with a balanced, slow release fertilizer. Fertilize a second time during the year if you’ve planted your Yellow Jasmine in a pot.
