Pollination Info

Monroe Avocado Tree Pollination

Monroe Avocado Trees are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Monroe Avocado Tree will drastically increase the size of your crop.

Planting & Care

1. Planting:  Plant avocado trees in a sunny area that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight every day. Make sure to protect them from strong winds and frost, particularly when they are young.

Avocado trees require well-draining soil with a pH level between 6 and 7. If you have heavy or clay soils, improve drainage by adding organic matter.

When planting young avocado trees, place them at the same depth as they were in the nursery container.

Planting multiple trees or attracting pollinators can improve fruit sets. As the avocados grow, support their heavy fruit-laden branches to prevent breakage.

2. Watering: Water once the top inch of soil is dry. Young trees need more water. Water thoroughly to encourage deep roots. Avoid shallow watering.

Mulching: Add organic mulch to keep the soil moist and regulate temperature. Avocado trees are sensitive to waterlogged conditions. Ensure proper drainage.

3. Pruning: Prune young trees to encourage a sturdy structure. Remove weak or crossing branches. Mature trees require minimal pruning. Remove dead or diseased branches and thin out excess growth for better air circulation.

4. Fertilizing: Avocado trees require balanced fertilizer with N-P-K ratio for healthy foliage, root development, and fruit production. Apply granular fertilizer twice a year, in early spring and mid-summer. Micronutrient supplements like iron and zinc can benefit avocado trees. Use specialized fertilizers containing these elements.

5. Pollination:Though this avocado tree is self-pollinating, you can encourage more fruit production with additional avocado trees.
