Sweet Aroma & Pure White Blooms

Why Sweet Mock Orange Shrubs?

Also known as the English Dogwood or Philadelphus Coronarius, the Sweet Mock Orange Shrub gives you unbelievable fragrance with the perk of bright white blooms in late spring and early summer.

It's named for its citrus-like scent that emanates through botanical gardens, professionally-designed landscapes and beyond...greeting guests and neighbors with an unforgettable aroma.

Serrated emerald green leaves welcome spring, providing a lush backdrop for the perfectly-formed white blossoms that appear in early summer. Plus, because it's multi-stemmed and upright, the Sweet Mock Orange Shrub delights with arching branches in a semi-weeping form. And despite its delicate appearance, it's tough...resisting pests, diseases, and drought like a champ.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Before planting your Sweet Mock Orange in the ground, moisten the roots and set it in the shade for a few days. When you’re ready to plant, place your shrub in full sun to partial shade, avoiding deep shade (4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily).

Dig a hole about as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide. Set the tree in the hole, spreading out the roots over the surface of the hole. Fill the hole in with a mixture of the original soil and any additional topsoil required. Eliminate any air pockets that may have formed by tamping down firmly. Water the area until the top 3 inches of soil becomes moist but not soaked.

2. Watering: Water regularly in the first year after planting. Wait until the top 3 inches of soil dry out before watering again. Soon after the first year, your Sweet Mock Orange will become drought tolerant and only need water during extended droughts.

3. Fertilizing: Apply a complete fertilizer in early spring such as 10-10-10, preferably one with slow-release nitrogen and follow the directions on the packaging.
