Pollination Info
Valencia Pride Mango Pollination
Valencia Pride Mangos are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Valencia Pride Mango will drastically increase the size of your crop.
Planting & Care
Planting: Plant in a sunny location with well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball, gently positioning the tree ensuring the top of the root ball is slightly above the soil surface.
Watering: Water regularly, ensuring the soil stays consistently moist but not waterlogged. During dry spells, provide a deep watering, allowing the topsoil to dry slightly between watering sessions.
Fertilizer: Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer formulated for fruit trees. Apply the fertilizer in early spring as new growth begins, following the recommended dosage on the product packaging, and water thoroughly after application for optimal nutrient absorption.
Weed Control: Weeds steal vital nutrients from the plants around them. The best way to keep weeds at bay and help your tree grow is with pine bark. Placing a one-inch thick layer three feet around the base of your tree will stop the weeds. Also another bonus is as the pine bark decomposes, it will raise the acidity of your soil naturally!
Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead or crowded branches, promoting air circulation and sunlight penetration.
Pollination: The Valencia Pride Mango is self-pollinating, so it only requires one tree to produce delicious mangos. However, planting multiple mango trees will increase your harvests.
